Spring is on the way!!

Hey everyone! I have a couple of questions: For years I've wanted to do planter boxes, but I don't know how to do it. Do you just connect four pieces of wood (like 4 ft. x 4 ft. and 6" high)? Then also, how much good soil do I put in the boxes? What type of soil/dirt is best? I'd like to plant strawberries, tomatoes and maybe something else I haven't thought of yet! Basically, I want the kids to learn the joy of growing your own food. They are already loving the daffodils, tulips, roses and various other flowers that are in the flower beds....and every year I plant a couple of tomato plants along with the flowers, and they love watching them grow! Thanks in advance for any information you may be able to share!

It actually wasn't that bad- wait till we hit the 100 degree mark LOL
Survival tips:
Drink lots of water.
A/C or fans
Don't go outside between noon and 4pm if u can help it.
